The academic team represents South Aiken High School and our JROTC unit at many academic meets and other meets where cadets must test their knowledge of JROTC regulations and general subjects.

Team Captain: Keira Tallent
Color Guard
Team Captain: Athena Washburn
The Colorguard team is made up of cadets who are interested in learning and sharpening their skills in drill but in the division of flags and rifles. These people make up the people holding the flags for the National Anthem, special events, and football games. These cadets also learn how to correctly learn flags but also get extra help in marching, bearing, and extra drill, but also, go to events and competitions to show off their skills.
Cyber
Team Captain: Emma Stone
Cyber Patriot is a cyber defense competition that is designed to give hands-on exposure to the foundations of cybersecurity. Cyber Patriot's goal is to excite students about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, but also gives an inside look into the technological world and gives opportunities that can give them careers with important knowledge and practices.
Drill
Team Captain: Keira Tallent
The drill team is made up of cadets who are particularly interested in sharpness and precision developed by close order drill and manual of arms. The team represents South Aiken High School in various Parades, Ceremonies, and Competitions throughout the state with other NJROTC units.
Drone
Team Captain: Zachary Alasin
The newest of our teams, Drone, is designed to expose our cadets to the basics of aerodynamics.
Orienteering
Team Captain: Cameron Finklin
Orienteering is a sport that involves land navigation over unfamiliar terrain with a map and compass. The object is to navigate to a series of points shown on the map, called control points, choosing routes, both on and off established trails, that will allow the orienteer to find all the points and get back to the finish in the shortest amount of elapsed time. It is an outdoorsman's equivalent of a car enthusiast's road rally. The length of a course can run from a mile or less for novice-level events to four or more miles for international competitions.
Physical Training

PT Team is a team of cadets that physically train together as a team. Training and competitions include various events including pushups, situps, pullups, running, and more. Cadets represent South Aiken High School NJROTC units in online contests and competitions when traveling to other schools.

Rifle

Rifle Team is made up of elite cadets who go through intensive learning and practice to progress in their skills as marksmanship personnel to also show them off in various competitions that are extracurricular. Competitions vary from different high schools in our districts to competitions outside of Aiken County.

Seaperch
Team Captain: Zachary Alasin
SeaPerch is designed to expose students to the basics of underwater robotics, immersing them in an environment in which they utilize their engineering skills and problem-solving skills to build a robot that is used in underwater competitions. A fun and hands-on program, it is sure to excite and interest anyone who wants to learn more about engineering and underwater robotics.
