Students and Teachers

This week is National Apprenticeship Week. Six area youth apprentices, including three students from North Augusta High, were celebrated at a Career Signing event sponsored by Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and the Aiken County Career & Technical Center.

North Augusta seniors Alejandro Aguirre, Elisabeth Corley, and Jacob Lott began apprenticeship programs with SRNS in July. All three students are pathway completers for our Information Support & Services CTE pathway, better known as our Dell Tech Crew program, at NAHS.  As a part of that program, they have earned their Dell Technician and OSHA-10 industry certifications and completed numerous laptop repairs for our schools.

Aguirre and Lott are the first youth apprentices in information technology at SRNS. As apprentices in the IT Customer Response Center, they work alongside IT professionals to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair computer systems. After graduation, both plan to pursue bachelor's degrees in computer science and information technology while continuing the apprentice path to a career at Savannah River Site.

Corley has worked as a youth apprentice/records management clerk at the SRNS Apprenticeship School working alongside SRNS human resources personnel. Following graduation, she plans to move into a full-time position at SRNS as a nuclear control operator.

We are so grateful for these amazing opportunities for our students and look forward to future Jacket apprentices' accomplishments!
