Due to the closing of the district for Hurricane Helene and the suspension of fall Intersession, the following plan will allow students an opportunity to engage in Unit Recovery and Attendance Recovery.

• Students will be able to attempt to recover material from Q1 in any course for which the student failed with a 59 or below, and for which there is an Edmentum equivalent course.

• Students will be able to recover up to 24 hours of class time which is equivalent to 16 90-minute class periods.

• We will utilize Saturday School to provide 24 instructional hours of recovery and will offer 4 six-hour Saturday sessions for students. Sessions times will be as follows:

  • Sessions will be on the following Saturdays from 8:30 - 3:00:

    • October 19

    • October 26

    • November 9

    • November 16

• Lunch will be served by the school.

• Bus transportation will not be provided, students must make their way to the school site for Saturday School.

• Students who successfully complete 100% of the assigned work with a course average of 60 or higher will be awarded a replacement grade of 60 in the course for which they are recovering credit.

Registration for Saturday School will be open until Thursday at the end of the school day.  If you have already registered previously for Fall Intersession, you do not need to register again.  If you have any questions, please email Ms. Noland at mnoland@acpsd.net. 

Intersession is an opportunity for those who failed a course during Quarter 1 to raise their grade to a 60 and for those students who have more than 5 unexcused absences to recover some of those days.  Please check your grades and attendance in PowerSchool.

This voluntary recovery time is only available to students who are in good standing with the school and do not have discipline concerns.

 Unit Recovery allows students the opportunity to recover their Quarter 1 grade to a 60. Students must finish all assignments, have a passing grade for the course work, and attend every day until they are finished in order to have their grade changed.  Work will be done at school on their school laptops using Edmentum, an online platform.  Work may not be done at home as work and tests must be proctored.  Students who do not show up on the first day will be unenrolled unless they have prior approval.

 Attendance Recovery will also be done during this time.  Students will be able to recover one class absence for each 90 minutes served.  This includes time missed in Quarter 1.  Students are required to complete College and Career Ready prep work on Edmentum during this Attendance Recovery time.  If they attend each day and work consistently, they may recover a total of 16 absences.

 Bus transportation is not provided during Intersession.
Lunch will be served every day, free of charge.
