All 2023 graduating met the South Carolina College and/or Career Readiness Requirements

8 seniors are members of our Ridge Spring- Monetta Middle/High School band who received the South Carolina Band Directors Association Outstanding Performance Award for the 2023-24 school year.

6 seniors obtained Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certifications through our Health Occupations Program

5 seniors obtained phlebotomy and EKG certifications through our Health Occupations Program

17 seniors completed internships ranging from environmental services, health care, agriculture, and human resources. 

2 senior athletes were recognized as All-State, one of which was recognized for this achievement in two sports.

7 senior athletes were recognized as All-Region

4 seniors led service-learning projects that included collecting enough nonperishable food items to feed 14 community families at Christmas time and collected enough toiletry items to serve 100 homeless individuals.

A total of 36 college credit hours earned

And $1,746, 940 in scholarship dollars offered to the class of 2024

MARCHING BAND

September 30--Mustang Classic at Midland Valley High School:

1st Place Class A, Best Music Score Class A, Best Overall Effect Score Class A

October 7--Fin-Fest Tournament of Bands at St. James High School (Murrells Inlet)

2nd Place Color Guard Class A

October 14--Silver Spirit Invitational at Silver Bluff High School

Swept all Class A awards including: 1st Place Class A, Best Music Score Class A, Best Visual Score Class A, Best Overall Effect Score Class A

October 21—Class A Lower State Championships at Westwood High School (Blythewood)

2nd Place, tied for highest Lower State ranking in school history

Saturday, October 28-- Class A State Championships at Blythewood High School

7th Place, first time in school history with back-to-back top 10 finishes at State

JAZZ BAND

March 1—SCBDA Jazz Performance Assessment at Crayton Middle School (Columbia)

CONCERT BAND

March 20—SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment at Lexington High School

Superior Rating (the first-ever Superior Rating for RS-M at an SCBDA festival)

 

OVERALL BAND PROGRAM

RS-M Band received the Outstanding Performance Award (first time in school history). This award is based on accomplishments in Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, All-State / Region Band, and Solo and Ensemble

INDIVIDUAL HONORS

·       5 students were selected for and participated in the Limestone University Honor Band Clinic for Middle School students

·       3 students were selected for and participated in the Newberry College Honor Band Clinic

·       11 students were selected for and participated in the Limestone University Honor Band Clinic for High School students

·       2 students were selected by audition for the Aiken All-County Orchestra

·       9 students (4 middle school, 5 high school) were selected by audition for SCBDA Region 2 Honor Band (school record)

·       3 students made final All-State auditions (first time in school history for any RS-M student during live auditions)

·       3 students participated in the University of South Carolina (Columbia) Honor Band Clinic

·       12 students were selected by audition for the Aiken All-County Honor Band (school record)
