Dual Enrollment
Aiken Technical College Early Start: Dual Enrollment
Early Start: Dual Enrollment is Aiken Technical College’s dual enrollment program. It is designed to allow qualified and highly motivated Aiken County, private or home-schooled high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while still in high school by taking either general studies classes, or enrolling in the Pre-Engineering or General Education Pathway. Students can earn both high school and college credit (dual credit) or just college credit (concurrent).
Dual enrollment students should have at least the minimum test scores on one or more of the following placement tests:
SAT Scores: 480 (verbal) plus COMPASS math
ACT Scores: 19 composite
PSAT Scores: 500 (verbal) and 500 (math) for PSAT tests administered after October 2015
Students entering the Pre-Engineering Academy program must have the minimum test scores on one or more of the following tests:
SAT Scores: 500 (verbal) plus COMPASS math
ACT Scores: 21 composite
PSAT Scores: 500 (verbal) and 500 (math) for PSAT tests administered after October 2015
Dual enrollment applicants who do not meet these requirements may take the free COMPASS placement test on campus at ATC, but will need to test into college-level courses in order to be accepted in the Early Start: Dual Enrollment Program.
