Did you know that Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language on the globe? Did you know that Chinese business and industry is a growing presence in South Carolina?

Belvedere Elementary has the first Mandarin Chinese Dual Language Program in Aiken County Public School District. Beginning in kindergarten, students are immersed in the Chinese language and culture while learning SC Standards-based math and science curriculum.

During the school year, students experience activities that expose them to the culture, traditions, and history of China. The students will not only be taught to speak Chinese, but to write in Chinese calligraphy, which is not only necessary, but an art. As students advance in grade levels, they will be assessed on their language proficiency as part of the curriculum to ensure their growth in the language.
