“Mark Your Calendars”: CSRA College Night, September 12 | 5-8PM
Over 100 Colleges and $15,000 in scholarships offered at the Augusta Convention Center
Area 9th-12th grade students will have a special opportunity to meet recruiters from over 100 colleges and universities and win scholarships totaling $15,000 at CSRA College Night, Thursday, Sept. 12, 5-8:00 p.m., at the Augusta Convention Center, located at 901 Reynolds Streets in Augusta, Georgia. Admission and parking are free and open to the public.
“We are so excited to continue CSRA College Night at a brand-new location this year,” said Cindy Hewitt, SRNS Education Outreach Specialist. “All highschoolers and parents are encouraged to attend to gain valuable insight into colleges and universities, financial aid opportunities, and career counseling and exploration.”
The center will be filled with seminars, career exploration, counseling centers, and helpful exhibits manned by representatives from colleges, universities, and technical schools from throughout the U.S. In addition, members from local professional societies will be prepared to provide beneficial information in areas such as engineering, management, chemical and nuclear science.
CSRA College Night provides a way for students and parents to:
Obtain information on educational opportunities, admission requirements and tuition;
Attend seminars about HOPE and LIFE scholarships, SC and GA financial aid information, SRS apprenticeships and financial literacy;
Visit a counseling center to seek advice about the college application process from high school advisors and admissions professionals;
Visit the SRNS Career Exploration area to “card sort” career interest and validate choice;
High school seniors may register in person at CSRA College Night to participate in a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship. To qualify, a high school seniors must graduate with a GPA equal or above 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
The event is now entering its third decade of service to area high school students.
“Well over $400,000 in scholarship funding has been offered to the tens of thousands of students who have attended College Night since 1993,” continued Hewitt. “The generosity of our sponsors and hundreds of SRS volunteers continues to make this event successful year after year.”
CSRA College Night is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy-Savannah River Operations Office, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, SRS Centerra, SRP Federal Credit Union, Aiken County Public School District, Public Education Partners of Aiken County, Richmond County School System, Probe, South Carolina Society for Professional Engineers, iHeart Media Augusta and Bridgestone.
