As I begin my 35th year in education, my passion to serve the community in which I was raised and educated continues to drive what I do each day. I am excited to work with the students, parents, teachers, and staff in making our school a safe and nurturing, learning environment.
I am a proud product of the Aiken County school system and attended Area 3 schools at Langley Elementary, LBC Middle and Midland Valley High. I obtained my B.A. in elementary education from the University of South at Aiken in 1989 and a M.Ed. in elementary education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 2004. Later in 2014, I obtained my elementary administration certification from the University of South Carolina as well. Previously, I served as the assistant principal at Greendale Elementary in New Ellenton, S.C. I began my teaching career at Jefferson Elementary in Bath, S.C., where I remained for 25 years and taught first grade for 10 years as well as Reading Recovery and fourth grade for 14 years. My last year at JES, I served as the Read to Succeed literacy coach.
I have extensive background in early literacy. I believe if we build a strong foundation in early literacy skills, the need for intervention later will be less likely. As we build that strong foundation, I want students to also grow in a love for reading. Former First Lady Jackie Kennedy once said, "There are many ways to enlarge a child's world. A love of books is best of all."
I am married to Richard Enlow (Richie) and we have two grown children, Derek and Morgan, who also are proud Midland Valley graduates. We welcomed our first grandchild, Molly June in August 2021. We attend Langley Church of God and have proudly served the Midland Valley community through our church and MVRA as coaches for football, baseball, and cheerleading. It is an honor and a privilege for us to serve our Midland Valley community that we so dearly love.
Each new school year brings changes and we have faced so many in the last few years. But, day in and day out, our faculty, staff, and students know their job and do it well.
