Troubleshooting Tech Issues

Step 1: Restart the computer completely: Rebooting refreshes the computer and solves most issues you may have. You should shut down your device every night.

Step 2: Unplug/plug in your modem or router: If you can’t connect to your home internet and restarting your computer doesn’t work, reset your modem/router by unplugging it, waiting 20 seconds and plugging it back in.

Step 3: Do a quick search: Many times, you can easily find a solution to common problems by doing a simple search.

Step 4: Contact your teacher: Teachers have a fairly good idea of what your device can do, and can possibly provide support or help you get the help you need.

Step 5: Call Support: We have a support person who can assist you with hardware issues or issues with your Microsoft account. 803-641-2642

Step 6: Take your device to our tech support: Tech problems will happen - guaranteed. You may need to take your device to our technology department at 61 Givens Street, 20805.

More Tips:

Be quick when issues arise: If you have a tech issue that prevents you from doing work, don’t wait! Reach out to get it taken care of. You don’t get extensions on school work because of a technology issue.

Be clear when asking for support: Make sure you describe the issue when reaching out for help. Take a screenshot or video of the issue to send to teachers or support persons.

Ask your learning coach for help: As a virtual student, you need to be willing to get help when needed. Your parent or learning coach provides support in place of staff at your school, so ask for help if you have issues.

Class-specific issues: If you have an issue in a specific class with an assignment or online tool, ask your teacher for support. Our support technicians are not familiar with individual teacher courses and assignments.
