WHAT TO EXPECT
Parents and guardians who choose Aiken iNNOVATE for their child’s education can expect direct virtual instruction from certified local teachers who are fully dedicated to online teaching and learning. Students will participate in scheduled virtual meetings, collaborative discussions, and interactive assignments, all completed from home.
Enrollment in Aiken iNNOVATE requires a commitment from parents and guardians to support their student’s success in this fully virtual program.
Students remain fully enrolled in their home school, maintaining access to extracurricular activities, clubs, performances, graduation, and other school events. The student-teacher relationship is essential in any learning environment, and Aiken County Public Schools’ virtual teachers are committed to building strong, supportive connections with students in the digital classroom.
COMMITMENT
Due to staffing, technology allocations, and curriculum planning necessary to offer students/families a full-time virtual education option, choosing to enroll in Aiken iNNOVATE is a commitment. Students who begin with us will be expected to finish out the current quarter (middle school) or semester (high school) before transitioning back to in-person learning in their home school.
Ai FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
Middle school students will be assigned a certified local virtual teacher who specializes in their grade level. Instructional materials and resources will be provided through Schoology, the district’s Learning Management System, along with access to other district-supported digital learning tools.
Aiken iNNOVATE teachers will deliver direct instruction, fostering personalized virtual connections and collaboration through Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Teams, following a structured daily schedule. Students are required to attend virtual sessions at designated times, and assignments will have firm weekly deadlines. Additionally, students will have access to office hours, small group instruction, and one-on-one virtual support with their Aiken iNNOVATE teacher.
Ai FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Aiken iNNOVATE is part of Aiken County Public School District's franchise partnership with VirtualSC. Students enrolled in Aiken iNNOVATE take courses developed by VirtualSC or ACPSD course designers, guided by our certified, local teachers who specialize in their content areas.
Our program offers accredited courses and provides students with academic advising and college planning support through guidance counselors at their home schools. Graduates earn a standard high school diploma from their home school, recognized by colleges, universities, and other postsecondary institutions.
High school students are required to attend virtual sessions at scheduled times. Coursework follows a structured schedule with firm weekly deadlines. Additionally, students have access to office hours, small group instruction, and one-on-one virtual support with their Aiken iNNOVATE teacher.
