Ms. Moore's educational career, which extends across decades and state lines, began at Aiken High School in the late 90s, where she first served as a special education teacher. Moore is returning to our district from Richmond County Schools in Augusta, Georgia, where she has taught and lead varied programs, services, and schools since 2004.
After 11 years teaching students with specialized needs at Laney High School and Westside High School, several summers leading a Richmond County summer school site, and eight months as an administrative intern with the county’s Performance Learning Center, she was appointed as an assistant principal at Richmond County Career and Technical Magnet School in 2016. As Richmond County developed its Innovation Academy, which would offer students experiencing barriers to their success in a traditional setting an alternative single-gender learning experience with wrap-around services to address personal and/or academic needs, Moore transitioned her support there in April of 2019 to prepare the school for its opening in August and throughout its inaugural year as Principal of the Girls. She served as a district administrator in the Special Education Department as a program specialist during the 2020-2021 school year, returned to school administration as an assistant principal at Cross Creek High for part of the 2021-2022 school year, and was promoted in February 2022 to her latest role as principal of Glenn Hills Middle.
An ongoing commitment to professional learning coupled with firsthand experiences as a teacher and in school leadership have equipped Moore with a deep understanding of classroom dynamics, curriculum development, and the diversity of student and staff needs. Experience has also taught her the importance of strong partnerships between school, families, and the broader community and she is excited to engage parents and community stakeholders to involve them in the educational journey of students.
“I’m looking forward to working with all stakeholders,” Moore shared. “By building strong relationships with Aiken High’s students, parents, teachers, staff, and community partners I am excited to promote student success and foster a positive school culture.”
