Aiken County Public Schools is excited to announce the appointment of Lori Miller as the new Director of Procurement and Warehouse Services. Approved by the Aiken County School Board on May 28, 2024, Miller assumed her role with the district on June 10, 2024, bringing over 26 years of experience in supply chain and manufacturing leadership.
Miller’s extensive career spans multiple industries and leadership roles, uniquely equipping her for this position. Prior to joining Aiken County Public Schools, she held significant roles in the private sector with major companies such as The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Eaton, Dayco Products, and ADS, Inc. Her expertise lies in procurement, operational management, and continuous improvement.
"I was seeking a role that would allow me to be more present for my family while still making a significant impact," Miller shared. "This position with Aiken County Public Schools is a perfect fit. It allows me to bring my extensive experience in operational and manufacturing environments to the district, offering a fresh perspective on continuous improvement opportunities that might not always be apparent from a traditional educational background."
Miller’s transition to this role is both professional and personal. After taking time off to care for her father during his final days, she sought a position that would keep her closer to home, where she could also care for her youngest son and mother. During this period, Miller worked as a substitute teacher in Aiken and Edgefield counties, developing a deep appreciation for educators and a love for the field. This experience nearly led her to a career change into teaching. However, when the opportunity for her current role arose, she recognized it as the perfect chance to merge her skills with her desire to serve the community.
Throughout her career, Miller has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to excellence. She is a recipient of the Manufacturing Institute’s STEP Ahead award, which honors women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in the manufacturing industry. She has also actively participated in initiatives such as Women MAKE America and Heroes MAKE America, contributing to the empowerment and mentorship of women and veterans in the manufacturing sector.
"I’m excited to support my community in this new capacity," Miller said. "It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to live and work in the same city. I look forward to finding ways to make life a little easier for our educators and to being part of the system responsible for my own children’s success."
Miller is eager to apply her operational expertise and passion for community service to Aiken County Public Schools. Her unique blend of professional experience and personal commitment will undoubtedly enhance the district’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, support educators, and serve the students and families of Aiken County.
