Dr. Tim Yarborough will expand his leadership role for Aiken County Public Schools’ Operations Division in the 2024-25 school year as the District’s Chief Officer of Operations and Student Services.
For the last seven years as a Director within the Division, Yarborough has championed school and district safety initiatives and energy conservation programs. He says it’s been a privilege to serve in this capacity where he’s able to focus efforts on our District’s top priority-safe and secure schools.
“Creating a safe, secure environment where our students can learn and teachers can teach is an effort I’m proud to lead,” he shared.
Throughout his career spanning more than three decades, Yarborough has demonstrated dedication and commitment to the success of the students and employees he serves and supports. He began his teaching career in Richmond County Schools. After serving as a Social Studies Teacher, and, later, Assistant Principal of Butler High School in Augusta, Yarborough returned home to Aiken County in the year 2000 as Principal of Wagener-Salley High School. He was promoted to an Assistant Superintendent of schools within the Midland Valley/Graniteville area (Area 3) in 2006; then continuing in a similar, but level-specific position as the Academic Officer/Executive Director over high schools in 2011. He joined the Operations Division as a Director in 2017. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina (USC) Aiken, Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees from USC Columbia and a Doctoral Degree from Georgia Southern University.
He and his wife are lifelong Aiken County residents, proud products of the school system themselves, as well as parents of former students. He’s invested in the success of our schools and is looking forward to creating and building upon his relationship with those he serves.
Yarborough will transition to his new role in July and will expand his leadership within the Operations Division assuming chief responsibility for facilities construction, social work, alternative programs, psychological and health services, athletics, attendance, transportation, student records, as well as student discipline.
“Operations and Student Services provide the framework and foundation for teachers and other school-based employees to serve our students,” he shared. “It’s been a privilege to serve in this area and I look forward to the opportunity to continue leading the district in this capacity.”
