With most North Augusta student-athletes relaxing over summer break, four members of the Yellow Jacket 1,600-meter relay team had some unfinished business on the track.
The relay team of Jose Alvarez, Kyle Morrell, Hayden Parker and Dejuan Bell placed in the Top 30 out of 45 1,600-meter boys' teams in the nation competing in the New Balance National Outdoors meet.
The meet was held June 16-18 at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Yellow Jacket quartet crossed the finish line in 3:22.936, according to official results. The New Balance Nationals race website lists the North Augusta team as finishing in 30th place.
However, the National Scholastic Athletic Foundation, which puts on the race, lists the local team as finishing in 29th place.
According to the foundation's website, more than 5,700 competitors laced up for the three-day national meet.
