Aiken Symphony Orchestra brings Star Wars, Harry Potter to Redcliffe Elementary Students

Students at Redcliffe Elementary were treated to a concert featuring music by American composer John Williams on Friday.

Led by Associate Conductor Dr. Nisan Ak, musicians from the Aiken Symphony Orchestra performed selections from the Harry Potter and Star Wars franchises to the delight of students and faculty.

Redcliffe Elementary School teacher Julie Garber McLain shared, “the experience of having a live orchestra perform in our cafeteria was a true gift to our 4th and 5th graders. Due to COVID restrictions, the arts have not played a major role in our schools in recent years. The symphony reminded us of the simple joy music adds to our lives.”

“Darth Vader joined the 48 musicians assembled and definitely added to the excitement,” shared ASO Executive Director Deedee Vaughters. “Jedi training was offered and a ‘battle’ followed. Of course, the Jedi won and Darth Vader retreated.”
