Belvedere Elementary Educator Retires After 44 Years

The students and staff of Belvedere Elementary School hosted a retirement party for their beloved teacher, Ms. Rosemary Quarles, who retires June 1, 2022, after spending her entire 44-year career at the school!

Ms. Quarles has shared her love of reading with many students over the years and was honored with the dedication of “Quarles' Corner,” a beautiful reading area located in the school. As a special tribute to Ms. Quarles, a rocking chair will remain in the area that is filled with books donated by former students and colleagues for students to enjoy for years to come.

“Ms. Quarles has taught so many generations of children, families, and colleagues and fostered the love of reading,” stated Belvedere Elementary Principal Allyson Long. “As this chapter comes to a close, the legacy she leaves here at Belvedere will forever remain in the hearts of her colleagues and her former students.”

After the dedication, Ms. Quarles’ second-grade class was joined by her former students in third, fourth, and fifth grades as she read the book “I Knew You Could” by Craig Dorfman.

Ms. Quarles was also greeted by a large number of former students, colleagues, and family members who came to congratulate her on her retirement and thank her for all she did to improve the lives of so many students over the years.
