The Aiken County Public School District held its sixth Senior Scholars Banquet to celebrate graduating seniors. Senior Scholars are graduating students who are recognized for maintaining academic excellence throughout their high school careers. To qualify, these students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.75, be ranked in the top 10% of their class, and must have received a B or higher in every class taken for high school credit.
“The graduating seniors we honor tonight have met these rigorous requirements and have shown that hard work, dedication to studies and a strong work ethic pay off,” said Dr. Amy Edwards, chief officer of instruction for the Aiken County Public School District. “We know they will be successful in any endeavor they undertake and we are proud to honor them.”
A total of 107 students were recognized as scholars from the following schools: Aiken High School, Aiken Scholars Academy, Midland Valley High School, North Augusta High School, Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, Silver Bluff High School and South Aiken High School. Students recognized as scholars from each school were awarded a medallion to wear at graduation.
“It’s always impressive to see these scholar students each year,” said King Laurence, Aiken County schools superintendent. “It’s a great celebration for these amazing seniors and their accomplishments. We’re just thrilled that we’re able to do this each year.”
