Recent North Augusta High School graduate Benjamin Burch has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
His older brother Eddie Burch is currently entering his fourth year at West Point; another brother, 2022 high school graduate Thomas Burch, attended Marion Military Academy and has just been accepted into the Naval Academy.
“It’s hard work. It involves doing a lot of extracurriculars and being really involved with community service, sports and picking up leadership roles,” Benjamin said about what it took for him to get to this point.
Benjamin was involved with Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC), the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Beta Club and Chess Club during his high school career. He also was involved with Adopt a Highway and Adopt a Trail, volunteer efforts that allow individuals, organizations and businesses to “adopt” highways and trails to maintain and keep clean.
Both Benjamin and Thomas look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
