The Aiken County Career and Technology Center held its second annual community night event on Tuesday to familiarize families with what the center has to offer.
“Community night is for us to bring together parents, potential students, so that they’re able to come to see what it is that Career Center has to offer,” said Program Specialist Alvina Jackson. “We want our parents and our students and community leaders and members to make connections.”
Tables were scattered around the campus representing various industry partners, including the Aiken County Emergency Medical Services, Blanchard Machinery, the Savannah River Site and Halocarbon. “This is a good night where industry can come in and see what we do here. So they see how they can come in and partner with us so that they can help grow their community as well as their businesses,” said Program Specialist Oscar Rushton.
The center has 17 different career pathways, including manufacturing, auto technology, electricity and cosmetology. “We have a wide array of programs represented tonight with their respective industry partners as well,” said the Center’s director, Kenneth Lott. Classrooms were full of displays to show what current students have been working on in these different fields.
