Veteran school administrator Mr. Scott Newman will serve as the Interim Executive Director of High Schools throughout the remainder of the 2016-17 school year.
"We are working to redefine excellence and our high schools have raised the bar of expectations,” Aiken’s Superintendent Dr. Sean Alford commented. “Mr. Newman has more than 30 years of experience in South Carolina schools. His insight and disposition will certainly support our journey on the path to becoming the state's premier district."
Newman is a two-time graduate of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s in Educational Administration. He taught for 11 years at Airport High School, while also coaching several varsity sports, before serving for two decades as a school-level administrator and three years as Lexington School District Two’s Director of Student Services.
Mr. Newman’s work in Aiken County begins today.
“Building relationships is key,” Newman commented of his success in school leadership. “Every school has a grassroots system of community support,” he continued. “I look forward to helping Aiken’s schools leverage the community’s support to advance accelerated learning together.”
