CTE MONTH: Mechatronics Integrated Systems Technology Offers Hands-On Program For ACPSD Juniors, Seniors

MIDLAND VALLEY CTE STUDENT AT WORK

MECHATRONICS INTEGRATED SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY is a two-year program for juniors and seniors at Aiken County Career Center.

This is a hands-on program designed to develop the technical skills needed for employment as an Industrial Maintenance Technician. Students will work with electrical circuits, belt, chain and gear-driven systems, hydraulics and pneumatics. Students who excel in this program have a mechanical aptitude, like to take things a part to see how they work, and are logical thinkers.

After completing the course, students may go to work in the HVAC or mechanical construction industries.

A student may continue their education in the Technical College system unitizing TAP (Technical Advanced Placement) credits earned through the course. Additionally, students in this program may have the opportunity to participate in work-based learning experiences through cooperative education agreements with local employers.

Instructor Stan Johnson is a twenty-year industry veteran celebrating his twentieth year in teaching. His teaching philosophy illustrates that we learn best from our mistakes and he encourages every student to try their best each day.
