Welding Technology prepares students for in-demand careers in a rapidly growing industry.
From employment at nuclear sites to commercial manufacturing and construction, student completers in the welding program have one of the highest placement rates into employment or post-secondary education at the Career Center.
Welding is a three-year program, requiring students to apply in Ninth Grade for entrance to the program in tenth grade. Intensive practice and theory in structural welding in this course prepares students to pass their American Welding Society Entry Level Welder Certification Exam. In addition, students gain valuable Technical Advanced Placement (TAP) credit toward welding certification and degree programs in the South Carolina Technical College System.
Opportunities for leadership are available to students through the ACCTC student chapter of AWS. Student members practice their skills at competitions and weld-offs throughout the year. Welding- a career so hot, it’s cool!
