AIKEN WORKS

AIKEN WORKS INITIATIVE SET TO ENHANCE EDUCATION & PREPARE AIKEN’S WORKFORCE

A community workforce collaborative is gearing up for a strategic communications effort and work-ready initiative aimed to extend our collective definition of individual success, and build understanding and future employee capacity for viable job opportunities in the Aiken County area.

AIKEN WORKS is being developed to build awareness about Aiken County’s workforce opportunities, connect high school students with various options to explore their individual future employment interests, and better prepare Aiken County’s next generation of employees for the demands of their future careers.

It’s no secret that within the next five years, Aiken County anticipates losing half its current workforce to retirement, while gaining more than 37,000 new employment opportunities. The student debt crisis is also well documented. In addition, Aiken County’s business and industry are actively seeking solutions to an impending workforce-readiness crisis; some even offering entry-level positions with advancement and continuing education opportunities to high school graduates with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and grow with their organization.

The AIKEN WORKS initiative, an Aiken County Community Workforce Collaborative, launched this spring with plans to cover our area with targeted marketing from the billboard above the 13th Street Bridge in downtown, Augusta, Georgia and print ads in our local newspapers to previews before this summer’s blockbuster Spiderman movie and interactive booths at local events and high school sporting competitions.

Aiken County Public Schools and local marketing firm Alison South have partnered for the AIKEN WORKS initiative and are actively seeking business partners to join the movement.

Visit AikenWorks.org or call (803) 641-2639 to work with us to shift the mindset of professional success in Aiken County, provide authentic experiences for students and work together to build the future workforce for our community’s future.
