District Students Shine During Recent South Carolina Band Directors Association Region Band Clinic

Congratulations to all Aiken County Public School District band students who participated in the recent South Carolina Band Directors Association Region Band Clinic. The region band clinic and concert was hosted by Lexington High School on Friday, February 23, 2018, and Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Aiken County band students auditioned during the month of January and many placed among the best musicians in Region 2, including schools from Abbeville, Anderson, Edgefield, Greenwood, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, and Saluda counties. The rigorous audition included scales, musical terms, a prepared solo, sight-reading, and tone.

In addition to the audition process, our students also had the opportunity to work with renowned clinicians, including, Dr. Les Hicken (Furman University), Greg Day (Southern Wesleyan University), Jocquin Fuller (Charlotte Latin School), and Travis Kelly (Swansea High School).

Our student performances were a huge success, as they demonstrated a superior level of musicianship. We are proud of all students who participated in the region band clinic, and our Aiken County instructors who provide a high-quality music education for them each day.
