Talented members of the South Aiken High School DECA program experienced tremendous success recently with a number of students winning awards during state competition, held March 2 to March 4, in Charleston, South Carolina. Twenty-four Thoroughbreds also qualified to attend the International DECA Conference and Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, next month.
South Aiken DECA member Susie Reeves was chosen as a new DECA State Officer, and she will serve as Vice President of Marketing. South Aiken DECA President Delta Pennington won the South Carolina DECA Scholarship given to the most outstanding DECA members in the state.
DECA is an international youth organization preparing students for careers in business and marketing. South Aiken DECA members participate in academic competitions, teambuilding, leadership conferences, work-based learning, professional development and community service activities at the local, state and national level. Students will be raising money to attend the international conference.

Third Place - Susie Reeves, Erica Flach and Kyra Allison (Public Relations Campaign); Kevin O’Flaherty (Employment Acquisition); and Bri Mathieu and Katie Gray (Innovation Business Plan).
