Adult Education Celebrates Graduates For Award-Winning School Year

The Aiken County Adult Education Center (ACAEC) experienced another award-winning school year in 2018-19, as 28 graduates walked across the stage May 29 at Midland Valley High School to receive their diplomas, while 120 graduates received their Grade Equivilent Diplomas (GED).

The ACAEC also recognized 12 graduates of the English Second Language Program.

“Many of our adult education students have overcome substantial obstacles in their lives and displayed outstanding courage and determination to reach this milestone and personal achievement,” stated Aiken County Superintendent Dr. Sean Alford. “We are very proud of each student and celebrate their accomplishment together with their support systems of parents, family and friends. We wish them the best in achieving their future career goals.”

Students Jessica White and Stacey Owen addressed their classmates as featured speakers. Jennifer Jenkins Toole of SC Works offered the keynote address. The Highest GPA Award recipient was Charles Mahan, while the Highest GED Score Award was presented to Kiley Craig.

“This has been yet another extremely successful class of adult education graduates who have worked hard to achieve their goals and create new opportunities for their futures,” commented Aiken County Adult Education Center Director Pat Keating. “Our goal is to help connect each student to a life-sustaining career.
