Aiken Works 'Road Tour' Kicks Off at Silver Bluff High

The Aiken Works community workforce development collaborative is gearing up to bring its 2019 “Road Tour” to a location near you. Beginning this Friday, September 20, 2019, Aiken Works will begin a six-week tour of Aiken County high school football games.

This year, the Aiken Works “Road Tour” will visit each high school and host an “Aiken Works Pre-Game Tailgate” Village. The “tailgate village” will take place prior to each game, from approximately 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on the host school’s campus (outside the stadium).

The “Tailgate Village” schedule begins September 20, 2019, at Silver Bluff High School and will be held each week as follows:

            9/20     -             at Silver Bluff (vs. Allendale-Fairfax)

9/27     -             at Midland Valley (vs. Barnwell)

10/4     -             at South Aiken (vs. Aiken High)

           10/4     -             at Ridge Spring-Monetta (vs. Denmark)

10/11   -             at North Augusta (vs. Airport)

              10/18   -             at Wagener-Salley (vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta)

11/01   -             at Aiken High (vs. North Augusta)

In an effort to enhance education for students, parents, and our community, “Tailgate Village” participants will vary from week to week. Participants will include Aiken County Public School District Departments and Programs, programs from the host school, and various post-secondary career and educational opportunities. To further enhance the pre-game festivities, Aiken Works has partnered with local radio stations 105.7FM “The Bull”, EAGLE 106.3FM, and WBBQ (104.3FM). Through their community outreach efforts, these stations will provide live “pre-game” remote broadcasts, on-site musical entertainment, promotional items and door prize drawings.

During the 2019 football season, Aiken Works will also bring career awareness and exposure to a selection of Aiken County middle school football games. That schedule is as follows:

9/18     -             at North Augusta High (Paul Knox Middle vs. North Augusta Middle)
