Having served as Director of Human Resources for Aiken County Public Schools over the past two years, Jennifer Hart is taking on a new leadership role as Chief Officer of Human Resources and Administration, a position formerly held by new Aiken County Superintendent King Laurence.
“Jennifer brought a wealth of human resources and business knowledge when she came to our District a couple of years ago,” stated Aiken County Superintendent King Laurence. “As Chief Officer of Human Resources and Administration she will continue to use that experience to help lead our school district to even greater heights.”
Hart’s appointment as new Chief Officer of Human Resources and Administration was approved by the Aiken County Board of Education during Tuesday’s regular meeting, which was held virtually due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
“I am humbled and honored at the opportunity to continue to serve our students and community in this expanded role,” stated Hart. “I believe that we have some of the most dedicated and compassionate employees I have ever worked with, and look forward to continuing to support the noble work they all do each day.”
In her role as human resources director for Aiken County Public Schools, Hart has overseen the administration of all facets of human resources including recruitment and retention, employee relations, professional development, and benefits; developed a 3-year HR specific strategic plan and annual supportive objectives in support of the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan; and realigned people, processes, and systems to establish departmental value, improve internal customer service, and ensure legal compliance.
In addition to those responsibilities, she will also serve as the District Ombudsman and be responsible for coordinating long-range strategic planning, assessing program implementation and effectiveness, and working with community stakeholders to advance the mission and goals of Aiken County Public Schools.
Hart has an abundance of human resources and business management experience. Prior to her time with Aiken County Public Schools, she served as Director within the Career Services Division and Community Director of the Aiken Campus, for Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia & CSRA; Human Resources Manager for University Health Care System in Augusta, Georgia; and as Senior Recruiter for Medical College of Georgia Health, Inc., also in Augusta. She has been a small business owner and a university faculty member, in addition to other duties.
Hart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of South Carolina Aiken, and holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. Among her professional certifications earned are SHRM – Senior Certified Professional (SCP), SHRM – Certified Professional (CP), and Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
Hart says the future remains bright as Aiken County Public Schools continues to attract the best and brightest to serve in its ranks.
“As a team, we have made great progress in recruitment and retention efforts, and I look forward to continuing our work in both human resources and administrative efforts to achieve excellence,” Hart added.
