The Aiken County Public Schools’ Food Services Department will offer take home meals for all students during the 2020-21 school year, whether they are participating in the hybrid model of in-person instruction or the full-time virtual model of instruction through AIKEN iNNOVATE.
“The Aiken County Public Schools’ Food Services Department is excited to announce a new meal ordering service for students who will attend school either through our hybrid model of instruction or those who will attend school virtually through AIKEN iNNOVATE,” stated ACPSD School Food Service Director Karen Johnson. “This service will ensure that students are able to access nutritious school meals for the entire school year.”
Families will pre-order meals for the school year by filling out an online form for the student’s specific learning model – either Hybrid or AIKEN iNNOVATE.
Also, utilizing a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Waiver, all Aiken County Public Schools' enrolled students can now receive, at no cost to the student, one breakfast and one lunch daily. This applies whether the student is participating in the Hybrid Model of instruction or Aiken Innovate, and lasts through December 31, 2020, or sooner if USDA funds are depleted.
Students participating in the in-person Hybrid Model of instruction will have access to Three (3) breakfasts and Three (3) lunches on Tuesdays at dismissal time for students in the Blue cohort or Thursdays at dismissal time for students in the Red cohort.
The deadline for ordering meals is 12:00 p.m. (noon) on the day prior to pick up. Orders for blue cohort students must be placed by noon on Mondays. Orders for red cohort students must be placed by noon on Wednesdays.
Orders do not automatically renew from week-to-week. Families will want to place their order each week.
Students who are participating in the full-time virtual model of AIKEN iNNOVATE will have an option of One (1) Breakfast and One (1) Lunch for pick up at the student’s home school on Monday through Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. On Thursdays, the option of Two (2) Breakfasts and Two (2) Lunches will be available at the student’s home school from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Meals will be charged according to a household’s eligibility status of the Free and Reduced Meal Program.
Breakfast costs are $0.30/per meal at Reduced Pay, $1.75/per meal at Full Pay.
Lunch costs are $0.40/per meal at Reduced Pay, with Full Pay Elementary at $2.60/per meal and Middle/High at $2.75/per meal
