Former North Augusta Middle School Teacher Sandy Zeller Named Franchise Teacher of the Year by VirtualSC

Aiken County Public Schools is pleased to announce former North Augusta Middle School teacher Sandy Zeller as the VirtualSC Franchise Teacher of the Year.

For the last three years, the VirtualSC program has selected a Franchise Teacher of Year. The VirtualSC Franchise Teacher of the Year is a franchise teacher who has demonstrated excellence in online teaching. This is someone who has shown a passion for education and for virtual education, as demonstrated through his or her work with students.

“There are a lot of advantages to virtual learning and one of the things I love is that everyone is on a level playing field when they come in and there are no preconceived notions about who the students are so you treat everyone exactly the same,” stated Zeller.

“Some of the other advantages to virtual learning include providing another educational option to those students who may be uncomfortable in an in-person environment, some students want to graduate early, and there are also students who may have made some poor choices and so that’s an option for them as well. Virtual learning appeals to many students for many different treasons and it’s an opportunity that is open to everyone,” Seller added.

Zeller currently serves as a Media Specialist at Aiken High School.
