Daniel Hamilton Named New Assistant Principal at North Augusta Middle School

Daniel Hamilton once heard another educator say that in their classroom excellence was both expected and respected. The phrase stuck with Hamilton and he’s incorporated it into his own classroom in the 11 years he’s taught music at Redcliffe Elementary School.

Hamilton will now carry it with him to North Augusta Middle School where he will transition to administration as an assistant principal.

Aiken County Board of Education members approved his appointment as a new assistant principal at North Augusta Middle School for the 2021-22 school year during the school board’s June 15 special called meeting.

“I believe positive school culture begins with relationships, and part of that is modeling what you expect from others,” stated Hamilton. “I’ve used that phrase because it is so important to let our students know that not only do we expect their best each day, but that type of effort also earns them respect from others. A positive attitude will help our students succeed here and in the future.”

Hamilton says he looks forward to returning to the middle level as that is where he did his student teaching prior to the start of his career.

“I did my student teaching at E.L. Wright Middle and Blythewood High School in Columbia many years ago, so I’m excited to return to where I started,” commented Hamilton. “I am incredibly excited to serve my community in this new position. I am humbled by the opportunity and ready to get to work.”

“North Augusta Middle is an incredible school,” added Hamilton. “It is home to the Modern Math Academy, excellent teachers and students, strong extracurricular activities, and a supportive community.”

Hamilton’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina Columbia and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Augusta University.

“From day one I will work to build relationships with those both in and outside of our school,” stated Hamilton. “I will promote a welcoming family atmosphere and help our students gain the skills they need to become life-long learners.”

Hamilton has served on curriculum teams for general music for the Aiken County Public School District, creating and organizing resources to teach music literacy and concepts for a diverse student population of 21 elementary schools. He has also presented professional development as a part of the Empowering Educators conference and is engaging in leadership opportunities through the Leadership Academy in the ACPSD.

“I’m looking forward to collaborating with our school and community to give our students the highest level of education possible,” he added.

Hamilton will begin his duties as North Augusta Middle School assistant principal in July.
