District Announces Week of Early Release Days From September 27- October 1

Aiken County Public Schools will move to an early release schedule for the week of Monday, September 27, 2021, to Friday, October 1, 2021, to provide training for teachers that will help them provide direct instruction for students in quarantine. Early release means school will release two hours earlier than normal schedule.

The move to early release for professional learning was approved by the Aiken County Board of Education during its regular meeting held Tuesday, September 14, 2021. All teachers will participate in the professional learning.

The early release schedule will allow Aiken County teachers to receive additional training on Schoology, the school district’s Learning Management System (LMS), as well as Microsoft Teams.

Parents are asked for patience and consideration for their student’s teachers in the days and weeks following the upcoming training as some educators begin to implement instructional strategies and techniques that are new to them. Parents should not expect all teachers to achieve proficiency at the same time.

“Increasing our instructional capacity to help thousands of students under quarantine means we need to provide additional training for our teachers as quickly as possible,” stated Superintendent Laurence. “We appreciate the support of our parents during this week of early release.”
