2022-23 School Year Applications for District's Full-Time Virtual Program Available Now Through February 25th

In preparation for the 2022-2023 school year, Aiken County Public Schools is excited to open enrollment for Aiken iNNOVATE (Ai), the school district’s full-time virtual program, for students in grades 6-12.

Applications for Aiken iNNOVATE opened Friday, February 4th and will continue through Friday, February 25th.

Students interested in participating in the Aiken iNNOVATE program must currently be in good academic standing with passing grades for the 2021-2022 school year. Applications will be reviewed to determine eligibility, and families will be notified of acceptance into the Ai program for the 2022-2023 school year by March 18th.

The application form is located under the FORMS section of your Parent Portal account. If you do not have a Parent Portal account, please contact your home school for information on how you may set up an account. Staffing will be determined by the number of applications submitted during this registration period.  Families with a student participating in Aiken iNNOVATE will still need to complete the district’s returning student registration process, which will open in May.

Students who participate in virtual courses will be scheduled based on grade level and course requests, not by school. Students will not necessarily be placed with other students or teachers from their home school.

In general, students who enroll in virtual programming should be self-motivated and strong, independent learners. Students should regularly communicate with their teachers and attend required live sessions. For the 2022-2023 school year, there will be a continued emphasis on live sessions; however, live session schedules will vary based on teacher and subject. Students will also need to log in daily to work on assignments as well as check email from teachers.

All applicable student fees still apply to virtual programming, including the technology fee and any extracurricular programming fees.

The school district will provide each student with an ACPSD-issued device. Participation in Aiken iNNOVATE will require the use of an District-issued device for the 2022-2023 school year. These devices are equipped with software necessary for administering and proctoring course assessments virtually that cannot be accessed on personal devices. Students must have reliable Internet connectivity in order to participate in the full-time virtual program. If a student does not have Internet services in the home, a hotspot can be provided; however, families should ensure that the Internet is stable enough for students to successfully engage in virtual programming.

Students enrolled in Aiken iNNOVATE will be required to attend face-to-face for mandatory state summative assessments and course exams.

Parents and students will be required to attend an orientation prior to the beginning of the school year. Several meeting options will be provided during the month of July and early August.

Students enrolled in Aiken iNNOVATE will remain a part of their home school and will be eligible for extra-curricular activities. Permission to be on campus from the home school administration should be obtained prior to the start of the school year. Transportation will not be provided.

All course offerings in the brick and mortar schools will not be available in a virtual setting.  A complete listing of course offerings can be found by clicking the following link: AIKEN INNOVATE COURSE OFFERINGS FOR 2022-2023.
