School Board Approves New 2022-23 Teacher Recruitment Bonuses for Critical Need School Locations, Content Areas

The Aiken County Board of Education approved new 2022-23 school year teacher recruitment bonuses for critical need locations and content areas during its Tuesday, February 8, 2022, regularly scheduled meeting.

A recruitment bonus in the amount of $2,500 is designated for newly hired teachers at the critical need locations of Ridge Spring-Monetta Elementary School, Busbee Elementary School, Greendale Elementary School, North Aiken Elementary School, Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle School, A.L. Corbett Middle School, Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, and Wagener-Salley High School. A second recruitment bonus, also in the amount of $2,500, has been designated to attract newly hired teachers to the critical need content areas of special education, middle and high school mathematics, as well as school psychologists and speech language pathologists.

“The job market for education professionals is extremely competitive, so we are grateful to our school board for approving these new incentives to help attract the best to Aiken County Public Schools,” stated ACPSD Chief Officer of Human Resources and Administration, Jennifer Hart.

A new teacher may be eligible for a total recruitment bonus of $5,000 if he or she is eligible based upon school location and content area. Newly hired teachers would be paid the full bonus of $2,500 or $5,000 shortly after their initial hire (normally by the second pay period). Current ACPSD special education teachers are eligible for the location-based bonus should they transfer to one of the school district’s critical need locations.
