Lindsey Hager Named Principal of Mossy Creek Elementary School for 2022-23 School Year

Going back to where her career first began has been a dream come true according to Lindsey Hager, the new principal of Mossy Creek Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year. The Aiken County Board of Education approved her appointment during the school board’s May 10, 2022, regularly scheduled meeting.

“I am ecstatic and honored to be given the opportunity to be the principal at Mossy Creek,” Hager said. “I feel like my career in education has come full circle, and going back to Mossy Creek will be like going home.”

Hager is a product of Aiken County Public Schools, having graduated from North Augusta High School. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Columbia, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from American Intercontinental University, and a Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina Columbia. She also holds a National Board Certification in Literacy.

Hager spent the first decade of her teaching career as a fourth and fifth grade teacher at Mossy Creek Elementary, where she chaired the Literacy Committee, served as the Grade Level Chair representative, and School Academic Lead. She also spent three years as the school’s Literacy Coach. Since 2017, she has served as the assistant principal of North Augusta Elementary School, and said she is happy to remain a part of the North Augusta community. She was named the Aiken County Public Schools’ Assistant Principal of the Year for the 2020-21 school year.

“The leadership team at Mossy Creek poured their heart and soul into me when I was a teacher, and I’m excited to give that same love and dedication to the current staff and students,” Hager commented.

Hager said her initial goal for the upcoming school year is to continue cultivating the already established school culture by focusing on building and maintaining impactful relations with the faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members.

“I will be a hands-on leader, fully integrated in our school and the community,” Hager added. “I’ll work to empower a school of leaders who will leave a lasting impression on our community.”

Hager is succeeding Jeff Matthews who has accepted a new position within Aiken County Public Schools, and will begin her duties as Mossy Creek Elementary School principal in July.
