Nearly 80 high school seniors from across all eight Aiken County Public Schools were recognized during the annual Senior Scholars banquet at the USC Aiken Convocation Center on May 19, 2022.
The event recognized and celebrated the academic excellence of the highest achieving graduating seniors. To qualify as a Senior Scholar, students must have a minimum cumulative 3.75 Grade Point Average (GPA), rank in the top 10 percent of their class, and must have earned a minimum of a B in every class taken for high school credit each quarter.
“We are incredibly proud of this group of seniors,” stated Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) Assistant Superintendent Bert Postell. “These scholars continued to strive for academic distinction through the unforeseen challenges brought on by the pandemic, and they prevailed. The countless hours they spent applying themselves throughout their academic career has placed each one of these students in a category of their own.”
Senior Scholars were called on stage to join their principal, school counselor, and ACPSD Superintendent King Laurence to receive a certificate and a gold medallion that will be worn at their upcoming graduation ceremony. As each name was called, Postell shared the Senior Scholar’s post-graduation plans, their advice to incoming freshman, and a thank you to the student’s mentors, family members, and friends.
“What an impressive group of young men and young women,” commented Superintendent Laurence to the Scholars. “We are so proud of all you have accomplished and excited to see what you do next. I wish you all the best in college and beyond, and I know you will be successful in all you do.”
Congratulations to our Class of 2022 Senior Scholars, including the following:
