Alisa Hamrick to Lead Aiken High for 2022-23 School Year

Aiken High School students and staff will see a familiar face leading the Hornets this year as assistant principal Alisa Hamrick has been named Principal of Aiken High School for the 2022-23 school year. 

The Aiken County Board of Education approved her appointment during the school board’s Tuesday, July 26, 2022, regularly scheduled meeting.

“I am beyond thrilled to be the principal,” Hamrick said. “Aiken High is my family, and I cannot wait to serve the school in this new capacity. I feel energized and ready for the challenge.”

Hamrick is a product of Aiken County Public schools who graduated from South Aiken High School. She began her teaching career in 2010, and has taught at North Augusta High and South Aiken High School. In 2014, she was named an assistant principal of Aiken High School where she served as a leader in the Cambridge program, Aiken iNNOVATE, and Special Education.

Her academic background includes a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina Aiken and a Master’s of Education in Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Texas at Arlington. 

Hamrick said she has been blessed with amazing mentors throughout her career who have provided the guidance to allow her to grow as a leader, helping to prepare her for principalship. 

“My initial goals for the upcoming school year will be to continue to keep safety and learning a priority,” she said. “In addition, I will focus on increasing faculty and staff, student, parent, and community engagement in the school.” 

Hamrick’s duties as the Aiken High School principal will begin immediately.
