Following Deborah Tyler’s retirement in September, Aiken’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved an experienced financial leader to serve as the District’s Procurement Director. Sherell Murphy begins her role in Aiken County Public Schools on October 17, 2022.
“I am thrilled to be joining the procurement team,” Murphy commented, “and I am extremely excited to get started in my new role supporting the procurement needs of Aiken County Public Schools.”
Murphy has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University (2010) and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Aiken.
Most recently, Murphy worked in Williamsburg, Virginia, as the Senior Procurement Specialist for James City County. Her prior work in the K-12 education sector was in the Beaufort County School District, where she served as Program Manager and was responsible for planning, administration and management of financial functions from special revenue accounts to budgeting and procurement for central administration and the district’s 21 schools.
“We’re excited to welcome Mrs. Murphy to our team,” Chief Financial Officer Tray Traxler commented. “Her varied procurement experience will serve our District and its students well.”
