Highland Springs Middle Principal Named; Leadership Transitions

As the District prepares to open Highland Springs Middle in July 2023, Paige Day, a proven educational leader, will transition in January from her principal position at Paul Knox to serve as point person for the district’s new campus.

Day, a North Augusta native, is in her fourth year as Principal of Paul Knox. Prior to her administrative appointment at Paul Knox, Day served as an Assistant Principal at North Augusta High School, and, earlier an Advanced Placement English teacher.

She says it’s been both an honor and privilege to serve in leadership roles in her hometown and at the schools she herself attended. “The faculty and staff at Paul Knox are among the most professional and caring educators that I have worked with,” she stated. “Additionally, the student body at Paul Knox Middle School comes to school every day with passion and enthusiasm for learning.”

Day received her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston. She also has a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and English, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Augusta State University. Day frequently presents at District and statewide conferences and has endorsements in Advanced Placement English and Gifted and Talented education.

“Day has demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing teams,” Phyllis Gamble, Assistant Superintendent of Middle Schools commented. “We have tremendous confidence in her leadership of a new school and believe she’s just the right fit for serving as Principal of Highland Springs Middle.”

“I am looking forward to being able to lead the opening of Highland Springs Middle School which will be the first new middle school to serve Areas 2 and 3 in many years. I am excited to continue working with families that I have known and loved for many years as well as getting to know new families and students in Aiken County Public Schools.”

Aiken County’s School Board unanimously approved Day’s reassignment at their meeting Tuesday, November 15, and also approved Casey Rogers, current principal at Langley-Bath-Clearwater (LBC) Middle, to transition to Paul Knox, filling Day’s vacancy.

Rogers served first as a social studies teacher, assistant principal, then principal at LBC and has built trusting relationships with students, staff and stakeholders alike. “It’s the ability to engage his school community that made Rogers an ideal fit for Day’s vacancy at Paul Knox,” Superintendent Laurence explained.”

Rogers’ academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of South Carolina, and a Masters of Education degree from Augusta State University.

Day and Rogers will begin their new roles as Principal of Highland Springs and Paul Knox middle, respectively, in January following winter break.
