Mary Ellen Morris has been named as an assistant principal at Midland Valley High School for the 2023-24 school year. She has served in the role on an interim basis since September, and the school board approved her official appointment during their regularly-scheduled meeting Tuesday, May 9, 2023.
Morris’ academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education from Presbyterian College (2013) and a Masters of Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte (2018).
She began her career in education in 2013 at Georgetown High School where she taught English, Creative Writing, and Yearbook. Morris then went on to teach eighth grade at Rosemary Middle School in Andrews, South Carolina, where she was named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2017. Soon after, she returned to teaching at the high school level. Morris coached varsity softball for seven years and earned a State Championship title for Andrews High School in 2018.
After nearly a decade in secondary education, Morris joined the administrative team at Midland Valley High School. She is excited to continue serving students and families in an assistant principal role for the upcoming 2023-24 school year, which officially begins in July.
