Jacqueline Osteen Named New Principal at Millbrook Elementary School for the 2023-24 School Year

Aiken County Public Schools is pleased to announce Jacqueline Osteen as the new principal at Millbrook Elementary for the 2023-24 school year. Osteen most recently served as a middle school Assistant Principal and has classroom experience ranging from Special Education and several grades at the elementary level up through middle school.

Board members approved her appointment at the May 23, 2023, regularly-scheduled meeting, and, although she’d already begun working closely with outgoing Millbrook Principal Dr. Roger Ward to ensure a seamless leadership transition, she’ll officially begin her new role in July.

As part of her transition to Millbrook, Osteen has already started meeting with grade level teams and individuals as she endeavors to hear directly from the faculty and staff what they love most about the school community and to get to know them on a more personal level.

“I am also eager to begin developing new relationships not only with teachers, but also with students, parents, and community members,” Osteen shared. “Millbrook is an amazing school with such a strong group of educators. Together, we will continue to push for excellence.”

Osteen began her career in education as a Special Education Aide at Chukker Creek Elementary School. She went on to teach 6th Grade ELA at Saluda Middle School before returning to Aiken County Public Schools, where she taught 5th and 3rd Grade at Gloverville and was named the school’s Teacher of the Year in 2016. She later taught 5th Grade at Aiken Elementary before joining Langley-Bath-Clearwater Middle School’s Administrative Team as an assistant principal in 2020.

“I love my LBC family,” Osteen said. “It’s difficult for me to leave them. They hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to develop relationships with the Millbrook community just as I have with The Valley community.”

Community and parent involvement are vital to a student’s education. Osteen firmly believes that in order to see student achievement, support and partnerships must be in place.

“It is my goal to be sure students are safe, empowered and are learning to their highest ability, parents are involved and heard, teachers are supported and feel valued, and community members are part of it all,” she shared.

Throughout her career, Osteen has taken on leadership roles as a classroom teacher, presenting at school and district-wide professional development events, serving on Math and ELA curriculum teams, and taking on the role of Site Lead for Summer Reading Camp. She was a cooperating teacher for USC Aiken and hosted many teacher interns and practicum students during her years in the classroom.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Aiken in 2012 and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina in 2017.

“I am looking forward to welcoming Jacque back to the elementary level as a principal,” shared Aiken County’s Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Julie Revelle. “We are excited for the energy and enthusiasm she will bring to the Millbrook team.”

Osteen is a servant leader and is thrilled to serve students, families, teachers and staff at Millbrook.

“This is an opportunity for me to find a place to not only grow professionally, but also a place to call home,” she added.

Millbrook Elementary families are invited to “Meet the Principal” on Friday, July 21, 2023. Drop in from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Millbrook Elementary to meet Mrs. Osteen ahead of the 2023-24 school year which begins on July 25.
