2024 DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY ESSAY AND CREATIVE VISUAL POSTERS CONTESTS
Aiken Technical College and the University of South Carolina Aiken will present the annual community-wide celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. virtually on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center. The celebration is a time to reflect on the past and focus on the future of humanity as a whole. Dr. King’s legacy has taught us to commit
ourselves to service by serving each other and those in our communities.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Steering Committee is inviting all Aiken County students to submit an original poster or written essay that draws on their experience to respond to the following questions:
-For Kindergarten-5th grade creative visual poster contest: “What does the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day mean to you?”
-For 6th-12th grade essay contest: “What does it mean when Dr. King said, "Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in." MLK’s Speech at the March for Integrated Schools, April 18, 1959.
RSME students will be participating in the contest in Art classes.
CONCURSO DE ENSAYOS Y CARTELES VISUALES CREATIVOS DEL DÍA DEL DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. 2024
Aiken Technical College y la Universidad de Carolina del Sur Aiken presentarán la celebración comunitaria anual del Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. de manera virtual el domingo 26 de enero de 2025 a las 3 p. m. en el Centro de Convocatorias de la Universidad de Carolina del Sur Aiken. La celebración es un momento para reflexionar sobre el pasado y enfocarnos en el futuro de la humanidad en su conjunto. El legado del Dr. King nos ha enseñado a comprometernos con el servicio al servirnos unos a otros y a los miembros de nuestras comunidades.
El Comité Directivo de la Celebración del Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. invita a todos los estudiantes del condado de Aiken a enviar un póster original o un ensayo escrito que se base en su experiencia para responder a las siguientes preguntas:
- Para el concurso de pósteres visuales creativos de jardín de infantes a quinto grado: "¿Qué significa para usted el Día de Martin Luther King, Jr.?"
- Para el concurso de ensayos de 6.º a 12.º grado: “¿Qué significa cuando el Dr. King dijo: “Haz de la humanidad una carrera. Comprométete con la noble lucha por la igualdad de derechos. Harás de ti mismo una mejor persona, de tu país una mejor nación y un mundo mejor en el que vivir?”. Discurso de MLK en la Marcha por las Escuelas Integradas, 18 de abril de 1959.
Los estudiantes de RSME participarán en el concurso en las clases de Arte.
