WELCOME and WELCOME BACK!!!!

Thanks to all of the JMS Band students AND parents for a GREAT 2022-2023 school year!!!  I am already looking forward to an even better 2023-2024 as we have so many awesome students returning to the band.  This year will be my 28th year teaching and my 3rd year at JSMS, and I am looking forward to meeting my new band students and continuing on our journey with my returning band students.  I can’t wait to see you all!

My music background started quite young.  I began piano in 1st, flute in 4th and trombone in 9th grade.  I graduated from Summerville High School and went to Brevard College in NC for music performance.  I hold an AFA in Music Performance, a BS in Education from CSU and a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from SWU. 

I am from Texas, but moved to Summerville, SC in 7th grade.   I live in Barnwell, SC with my husband of 38 years, Roger, and our pack of dogs.  We have 3 daughters and 7 granddaughters scattered from the UK to California and try to see them as often as possible.  

In addition to music, I am actively involved in my town's community theatre, both as an actor and a director/producer.  Other interests include raising and training my dogs for competitive dog sports, as well as traveling both locally and abroad.

I love sharing my passion for music, especially band and chorus, with my students and I am looking forward to a fantastic year with the amazing and talented students here at Jackson Middle!

Band Method Book

All beginner band students need to have a beginner band method book.  The book we are using is called "Habits of a Successful Beginner Band Musician" by Scott Rush and Jeff Scott. 

This is the book we will start on right away.  If you get an instrument through another source other than the music company, please order this book for your child or contact me to get one ordered through our music rep.
