The mission of the Nursing Services Department is to enhance the educational achievement of all students by promoting health and wellness and providing high quality nursing care in a safe and supportive environment.
School nurses play an integral role in health, safety, and wellness promotion in our schools. School nurse responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to illness and injuries that occur during the school day, coordinating care for students with chronic health conditions, administering medications, performing skilled nursing procedures, training designated staff to assist with medications and medical procedures, implementing SC Department of Health guidelines for immunizations and communicable diseases, conducting SC Department of Health recommended vision, hearing, and dental screenings, and serving as a liaison between the school, parents, medical providers, and community partners.
